Just wanted to let you guys know, that starting next month I will begin a new project called Faceup Stories. I have been planing to do this for ages so I am happy to finally be able to give it a go :)

New online tracking shipping option for USA and NZ

A new international tracked parcel option called “Pack and Track International” has been introduced at Australia Post, initially supporting parcels between Australia>United States and Australia>New Zealand. It is very similar to the Registered shipping that I have been using all along, except that this one can be tracked online too. The costs are pretty much the same (only 25 cents more expensive for parcels up to 500g).

Important Upcoming Changes

The changes described below will come in effect starting with January 2012.

I've been thinking for quite some time about restructuring my price list. Now that I am getting more experience with different types of sculpt sizes, I also learned how to put more detail into my faceups on larger dolls. I strive to maintain a high quality of work, and take advantage of the possibilities I have with larger dolls, but because of that, some orders take me way more time, than others. To better reflect the amount of work that goes into each faceup, I've decided to differentiate the prices between different types of BJDs. Below is the new price list (basic faceups with no extras):

any BJD in PukiPuki Size = $80 USD (price same as before)
any BJD in Lati Yellow size up to and including MSD size = $90 USD
any BJD in SD size = $100 USD

Also, I've recently had problems with certain orders, where the customers stopped communicating with me after the work had been done and approved. This leaves me in an awkward position, where I have someone else's doll, but no payment for my work. In order to avoid running into such problems again, I have decided to require my customers to make the payment upfront and in full. I am sorry for any inconvenience this might cause to you.

Change no.3: Lottery Slots
I will accept additional slots which will be chosen randomly via random.org among the people who comment in the "May Slots" thread. I aim to accept 20 heads altogether so I might have more than 2 slots for the lottery (depending on how many heads the first 8 slots will request). You have time to comment until Monday 25th April 11PM Melbourne time which means you have 24 hours to get a chance in the lottery. Then I will make a new thread called "May lottery" and post the screenshots of the lucky numbers/comments. After that, the same process applies: send me an email (nicolles.dreams.shop@gmail.com) within 24 hours tittled "May Slots" and tell me which comment you were and sculpts they want to be painted. Then I will confirm the commission request and add your info to the "May Slots" section on the right side of my blog. If I dont hear from you I will give the slot to another random comment.
A very important note: if you want to take part in the lottery for the additional slots, you must NOT post as anonymous and you must NOT post with the Name/Url option. You have to post with a valid username (Google, Livejournal, WordPress, TypePad, AIM, or OpenID account). This is to avoid faking multiple posts.

Change no.4: Include number of heads in the post
When you post you MUST include the number of heads you wish to send me. That way I know how many slots to accept in the lottery process. I will ignore the comment if this info is not included. If you wish to send Fantasy parts, get in contact with me in advance.

An idea, what do you think?

Since my April slots were all gone in about 20 seconds, I was thinking about something... Maybe I can have 7 slots as per usual but the other 3 could be chosen randomly from all the comments that are posted on my thread between 11PM and midnight. I know this doesnt solve all the issues (I know some have to wake up in the middle of the night etc) but at least if you are not in front of your computer with excellent connection, you can try your luck by posting via your phone.

Any suggestions are appreciated :)

US-bound Parcel Restrictions (Aviation Security)

I went to the Post office and was given this information:

From 22 November 2010, all parcels greater than 453 grams (16 ounces) bound for the United States (and associated territories and open transit countries) will be subject to tighter aviation security measures introduced by the US government. A $9.00 surcharge will be applied to all parcels destined for these countries:

Which countries does the surcharge apply to?
- All United States and territories and states
- Puerto Rico
- Guam
- Marshall Islands
- Palau
- Virgin Islands
- Federated States of Micronesia

Why have these restriction been introduced?
Australia Post has been advised by the Transport Security agencies in the US of the introduction of heightened border protection and increased aviation security measures which have a direct impact on our delivery to those countries.

Can I still send mail to the United States?
Yes, all mail will be delivered, but the delivery time might be longer.

Why has Australia Post introduced a surcharge on mail being sent to the United States?
The increased border protection and aviation security measures have a direct impact on Australia Post's processes. The new measures have increased the costs associated with screening and transport, and as a result a surcharge on international mail bound to the United States has been applied.

Updates

People who follow me on Twitter might have read that I run out of MSC and that my order which was placed almost a month ago got delayed for who knows how long. I can easily get my hands on Testors Dullcote which is another sealant people use for faceups and work with that on my November waiting list. If anyone doesnt like that, let me know, and we can wait together for MSC to be delivered :< For people who offered help, aerosols cannot be posted internationally, so if you added a MSC can in your parcel, it would be probably kept in customs.

Regarding my studies, I have most of my stuff due next week after which I can start working full time on November's faceups. I should be able to finish my October's last two commissions this weekend (please weather be good T__T ).
People on my November waiting list should expect an email from me any day now with my address :)

Also, to clear up some things, I accepted so many commissions for November because I will loose my student allowance after next week, which was fully covering my rent. I am trying to find a full time job now, but it might take awhile with this economy.

If I dont get a job by the time I finish my November orders, I will open more slots in December/January (depending when I finish all the commissions). But if I do get a job, I dont know if I will be accepting many commissions after November's commissions. It will all depend on my free time and the way all these new changes unfold.

Tutorial: How to comment on my blog?

I am getting quite a few emails asking how to comment on my blog. Sometimes people say they are unable to comment for some reason. So here is a quick tutorial.

You don't need to have a Blogger account or a Google account or anything. You can easily comment as anonymous as long as you say your nickname in the comment.

Please don't ask to be given a slot because you had issues commenting. Be ready beforehand, test commenting if you haven't done it before. I tried posting on a Mac, Windows Vista and Windows 7 on Chrome, Safari and Firefox browsers with no problems so far. Double check your browser is up to date and if you still have issues I would try to search around the internet for a solution.

Step 1:
click on the post you want to comment to

Step 2:
scroll down where you will find:

Step 3:
write your message

Step 4:
select profile (do you want to post through your Google account, LJ account, Name/url, Anonymous etc)

- part A explains how to comment if you have a Google, LJ, Wordpress, Typepad, AIM and OpenID account
- part B explains how to comment using the Name/url option
- part C explains how to comment using the Anonymous option

I have my final University exams and project submission due in the 1-2 week of November so the waiting list will start a bit later than usual. Instead of asking you to send the heads/parts to me a week before November I will do so sometime in the first or second week of November. Which means I will have those commissions finished by around middle of December. Then depending on how I go I might have a mini December waiting list to fill in a couple of commissions for the last 2 weeks before the end of the year. But I am not sure about that, I will see how everything goes. I will keep you updated.

Dear all,

I am writing to ask for your suggestion about a matter that has been bugging me for quite some time.

I know that for many of you who are interested in getting a slot, the time when I open the waiting list, might not be ideal. It might be because the time I chose is at night where you live, or maybe you have to work, etc

I am trying to find a way to give as many people a fair opportunity to get a slot. But I am not sure how. Some friends said I should open the waiting list at a different time every month but that would mean that you might have to wait months before I open the slots at a time that is okay for you specifically. Another idea was about having slots put on Etsy for 24 hours but then they would have to be on bidding which I am not sure I want to do since I don't want to give priority to people who are willing to pay more than my normal prices.

Another idea was to have people apply for slots and then I randomly pick a set number of applicants, but then again I always hated everything that involved luck >__<

If you have any ideas or suggestions, please let me know :)

I need to edit the Rules section (will do that tomorrow) but basically what I will do, is post a new thread at 11PM the 29th of August for October Waiting List (Melbourne time) and if you want a slot, you have to leave a comment under the post (so as always: first comes, first serves).

I was supposed to open new slots the 22nd of August but I would like to wait for another week so that people have a bit more time to learn about my new website. :)
